About

Fresh out of undergrad, I’m staying with nuns. Far from a sister (except to my siblings), I consider myself a Humanist when forced to pick a religious label. After spending some time on a Lakota reservation, circles became the center of my spirituality. As a writer, seeker, and lover of life, I’m anxious to share my thoughts and experiences while I circle back to my Catholic roots by living with articulate, radical, and pious women who are bursting at the seams with love.

What’s with the blog?

Here, I hope to give updates on the progress of my book manuscript, which is a memoir about struggling with major depression and spirituality. I’ll also just check in from time to time and reflect a bit on my experiences with the sisters. Since I hope to publish about this in my book, I can’t guarantee profound thoughts, but I can promise to keep it real.

  1. I just wanted to tell you, how much I appreciated your post about “what its like to be a black girl” yours was the only site that had the whole poem. Then as I read on past the poem I began to appreciate the way you flowed. You see I am a black woman of 58 and I agree with what you said about why does it have to be about something as shallow and thin as our skin. We all bleed red. Maybe we as women will reach that place and just drag the men along. Good luck with your book, I will buy it.

    • Thank you for such a kind and supportive comment! I needed a bit of encouragement and inspiration today. This made me smile 🙂
